adventure: noun
1. an undertaking of uncertain outcome; a hazardous enterprise.
2. an exciting experience.
a week ago i was having all these doubts that i was a boring person. i didn’t have any exciting travel plans to some far off destination, i felt annoyed that i was just sitting at the beach while other girls were surfing and i felt unmotivated and un exciting. my husband said i was being silly. “no one thinks you’re boring aimee, you do lots of exciting things. you take photos”. he is right. adventure is different for everybody, and taking photographs is an adventure, every time, if you go by the definition above.
i like to go on adventures. i like to feel exhilarated by experience. i find adventure in all sorts of things. meeting someone new for the first time, driving on an unknown road, swimming in the ocean when it’s raining, climbing over rocks, travelling alone.
i read this during the week which really made me think:
No is just a safety mechanism that keeps you from taking a risk.
sometimes i just need to say yes, to plunge myself into something that i know will make me uncomfortable, but will undoubtedly help me grow. so, for the next four weeks i am taking this workshop. it’s my hope that it will keep me challenged, make me feel uncomfortable and stretch my creativity.
here’s to the adventure.
Very thought provoking. I couldn’t agree more.
We’re all different and through the ebb and flow of life, we’re different at different times.
Adventure is your own thing. And you’re doing pretty well so far.
